Enquiring about volunteering and work placements at Start?
First of all, thank you for thinking about offering your time and skills to us.
We occasionally offer volunteer and work placements at Start. If you would like to enquire about these opportunities, please contact us with your CV and expression of interest. Please include a clear statement of what you believe Start will gain from your skills, and what you yourself would like to gain as a volunteer.
We prioritise volunteers with an art and design background (preferably a degree level qualification), or an Occupational Therapy background. We cannot accept volunteers who wish to practice psychology, art therapy, counselling, social work, or other formal therapies that require specialist supervision. Please note that we are not an Art Therapy service.
If you are offered a placement, you will receive supervision from a member of the team, and will have guidance about your role and responsibilities. You will need :
- a current CRB check,
- a medical arranged through MMHSCT,
- 2 recent references
- and you will also need to be willing to undertake formal NHS staff training for a number of hours.
