Model shot of ‘Armature’
by Angela Foley & S. McConnell
We thought this hat looked as if it belonged to a 1920’s bathing belle. We used the Man Ray photograph, Kiki, Violin de Ingres, as inspiration as it is an easily recognised image from this period and the profile pose complimented the hat’s elegant lines. We positioned ourselves with the sunlight coming from directly behind to give a flat image that emphasises the simplicity of shape and line as in Man Ray’s original image.
