A composition exercise
The way a picture is composed can sometimes go unnoticed. Yet the arrangement of elements in a picture influences the way it is viewed.
To find out what happens when the composition is altered, the students traced the elements of the painting - the ships, houses and buildings - and rearranged them to reflect different moods.
This exercise enabled students to become more aware of composition as an effective expressive tool.
