A Postcard from the Island
Dear Start
This place will never be the same. My Uncle Alfred has painted the St. Ives of yester-year. His paintings are nostalgic of the sailing boats that used to dock here, unloading their cargoes onto the dock beside the chapel and the customs house. Today, only a ‘dirty British Coaster’ docks here for a rest. The loading gear stands silent and unused. For me this place will never be quite empty, sombre or unfriendly.
God Bless, Clare
This postcard is the result of a creative writing workshop during the course.
The students were asked to imagine themselves inside Wallis's painting and to write about where they found themselves to be.
