Photography

Photography students (service users) can learn how to use traditional and digital cameras, how to develop and print film, and how to use basic digital photo manipulation. Students are taken on field trips to practice photography on location.

Studio work such as close-ups, still life and portrait shots are also popular. More experimental techniques can include photo montage, hand-tinting photographs, and the use of special products such as liquid light.

The photography group has a fully-equipped darkroom and a light studio.

Here’s what some students say about photography:

‘…I’ve taken lots of photographs and learned so much. …’

‘…It made me notice lots of small details in the environment I would have walked past without noticing before. Seeing all this helps lift my spirits.’
