Textiles GalleryTitle : Collograph Print | Artist : Start Student
Collograph prints are made by glueing a variety of objects and materials to a cardboard printing block. The Whole block is coated with printing ink, and applied to fabric or paper to make a print. This print is on silk velvet and was inspired by rockpools.
The project “Better Than Chocolate” which this piece comes from taught Start Students how to create original designs based on the patterns and forms observed in photographs of rockpools.
The collograph prints of which this is an example led onto the second part of the project - an exploration of the ‘Devoré’ technique. Visiting artist Gemma Lacey worked with Start Artist Wendy Teall to lead this project.
